Statement
"Things change from one moment to another".
Artist review
Hen Sophal paints dark and light; social commentary, society portraits, vices of the night, Buddhist rituals, relaxation by the river. The darkness of the bars, the light of the river, the meeting of day and night in early morning exercise.
The rich and the poor co-exist in the night. Like the winners and losers in a game, those who have enjoy the night while those who have not rake through rubbish for food and try to sleep on the street.
When making offerings to ancestors, he tells me, reflect on your own deeds, your actions come back in this life, as well as the next.
